The purpose of the NYSEMA List Server is to provide a forum to facilitate information sharing among our membership. The list allows members to pose a question to a wider group to encourage discussion and the sharing of ideas, as well as solutions that other may have already tried. The list allows sharing of positions on current, time sensitive issues that normal snail mail would not allow. The goal is to provide a service that provides a significant value without becoming a nuisance.
In order to keep the list from becoming a nuisance, person to person emailing, distribution of greetings, redistribution of newsletter items available from other sources and region specific information not applicable for all members distributed via the list is not permitted. Violators of this policy will be warned by the postmaster. Continued abuse will result in the offending member being removed from the list.
To Use the List Server
To use the NYSEMA List Server, send an email to the following email address: mail@nysema.org with “NYSEMA List” in the subject line. It is highly recommended that you put this email address in your address book. Put the details for your question, request or information in the body of the email. Within about 5 minutes the list server will retransmit your email to the entire List.
To use without setting off the List
To reply to the postmaster without setting off the list, use the reply function of your email and change the Subject Line to anything but “NYSEMA List”. Do this anytime you want to send a message to the postmaster, such as changing your email address, comments or questions and anything else you don’t want to go to the rest of the list.
To reply to the List, use the “Reply” function of your email. The subject line will automatically populate with “Re: NYSEMA List”. Put your reply into the body of the email and send. Within about 5 minutes your reply will retransmit to the entire list.
To reply to a specific individual on the list, use the “Reply to All” function of your email. Then delete all the email addresses but the one that you wish to send directly to. Put your reply into the body of the email and send. This email will send directly to the person you want to correspond with and not go through the List Server.
Any questions on the use or operation of the list should be sent to: mail@nysema.org
