The Legislative Committee gave it's report at the conference on this years legislative activity. As you will see below, there are a wide range of issues being considered. The Association also agree to join the "Issues of United Concern" as presented by the other emergency services association in NYS. A copy is attached is attached to the following link

Judy Warner, Emergency Mangement Director from Schoharie County, presented on new intitiatives regarding animals in disaster. The following link is the currently proposed legislation dealing with animal response teams for use in emergencies and disasters affecting animals in New York State, A 09715 .

S 02244 Relates to the Preparation of Water Supply Emergency Plans

A 04600 Requires Gas and Electric Corporations to Prepare Emergency Response Plans

A 01651 Relates to the authorization of debt in times of public emergency

S 01302 Relates to the authorization of debt in times of public emergency

A 01372 Requires certain institutional entities to cooperate with local authorities in the development of local disaster preparedness plans to address their needs

A 01374 Requires local disaster preparedness plans to be made widely available to the public unless SEMO determines that there is a compelling security reason to withhold

A 01375 Requires any city having a population of 500,000 or more use the best technology available, including computer models, to develop evacuation time estimates

A 01376 Requires that local disaster preparedness plans of a county, city, town, or village not conflict with those of others

A 05950 Establishes the emergency volunteer corps under the direction and control of the state emergency management office

A 04165 Directs the office for the aging, in consultation with other entities, to conduct a study of the comprehensiveness and effectiveness of evacuation plans for nursing homes

A 03643 Requires the director of homeland security to assist nursing homes and assisted living facilities with disaster preparedness plans

A 01310 Require MTA, N.Y.C. office of emergency management, and port authority of N.Y. and N.J. to report to the governor and the legislature on weather-related evacuation capabilities
